Welcome to the Home Page of the GlobeRider's Himalaya Expedition 2015 Live!Journal!
This journey has been in the works now for more than 3 years and for that reason alone we have been anxious to let the clutch out ride the Himalayas. Unfortunately some of the highlights of the journey had to be changed after the terrible earthquake in Nepal. Besides the large loss of human life, the main road between Tibet and Nepal was destroyed and will not be repaired in time for this journey.
We rerouted and made alternative plans, but not even that plan would come through as unusual rainfalls destroyed other roads crucial to this journey.
Normally one would give up such a project with so many setbacks, but not this group of hard core Riders. Determined to make the journey a third variation of the journey has now been acted on and we are on our way to see Thailand, Laos, China, Tibet, Myanmar, India, Bhutan and finally Nepal. The journey begins in Bangkok, Thailand, and ends in Kathmandu, Nepal.
To share this journey with family and friends we will be updating the Chapters of this Live!Journal as we travel.

This Himalaya Expedition's Live!Journal will consists of four Chapters:
- A new Chapter page will be added to this website as soon as we get enough material from the riders. Each Chapter will consist of stories and photos from the road, submitted by participants en route, a sort of travel blog (or travelog) if you will. Chapter Navigation Menus at the top and bottom of each page allow you to quickly jump from one page of the Live!Journal to another.
- When each new Chapter is "published" to the website, we'll send an email newsletter Dispatch, informing subscribers to our newsletters that new content is available in the Live!Journal. Each Dispatch will contain a photo and short summary of the week, and clickable links that will take viewers directly to the relevant Chapters or other pages on our website.
Our Live!Journal gives those of you who couldn't join us this year, to include family and friends of the participants, the opportunity to take a "virtual" tour with us. It also captures and preserves the tour for our participants, creating a scrapbook of their adventure on the web that they can refer to for years to come. And of course, we hope that a select few of you may be inspired to join GlobeRiders on a future adventure.
The "map", seen below, is the real-time Tracking map of the Expedition. The location updates are a live feed from our DeLorme inReach SE Satellite GPS Messenger. During an Expedition or Tour this map is live but this Expedition is complete and the map below is the final route.
In the Chapter navigation Menus, Chapter links which are blue are clickable, those in gray color are yet to come.
