About Jeff Munn

Jeff Munn has spent the majority of his life serving his country, entering the United States Military Academy at West Point at the ripe old age of 17.  He then served 23 years as a combat arms officer in the U.S. Army. Jeff spent several tours overseas, where he used his free time to ride in new countries and lead friends on rides all over Europe, Scandinavia, even into Russia. He retired from the military in 2003 to pursue his dream - riding to even more new and exotic places.

Jeff’s love of motorcycles, much to the chagrin of his parents, was nurtured by a longtime family friend who grew up in Tasmania, and who rode and raced throughout Europe in the 1950s. Tasman Graham loaned Jeff his first bike and taught him to ride, fueling a lifetime of adventures and memories.

Beginning with a 1981 Kawasaki KZ550, Jeff found his first BMW in 1984, and eventually worked his way up to his current mount, the BMW R1150GS. In the last 25 years, he has put over 300,000 miles on BMW motorcycles and had ridden in 46 countries on 4 continents, all but two countries of which were on his motorcycle, on his own.

Since retirement, Jeff has apprenticed in an independent BMW restoration shop, and has tried to fully explore North America, most recently riding through Central America to the Darien Gap in Panama. He is also a published author and amateur juggler. Jeff will be joining GlobeRiders as a guide in 2007.

Jeff and Teresa Munn live in Petersburg, Virginia.
